He married twice. He married Elizabeth Jack in Greenbrier, Va, February 5, 1857. Elizabeth was born in Greenbrier, W Va about 1835. She was the daughter of Andrew Jack_or_jackson and Catherine Remley. Elizabeth died about 1863 in Greenbrier, W Va. He married Mary Leavisy in Greenbrier, W Va, about 1864. Mary was born in Greenbrier, W Va March 1840. Mary died after 1900 in Greenbrier, Virginia. His birth date of 1835 fits in smoothly with the family so who knows for sure. No one in the family ever found out who his real parents were, therefore, we are tracing the CROOKSHANKS and they get the temple blessings. I feel very close to this family. James Anthony Burgess. Steven was born in Warrenton, Fauquier, Va February 28, 1862. He was the son of Mr. Smith and Mary_catherine "Mollie" Burgess. Steven died July 1930 in Richlands, Greenbrier, W Va. Death's Harvest Ronceverte West Virginia Thursday September 6, 1945 Mrs. S V Burgess Mrs. Sally Janee (Crookshanks) Burgess, widow of Stephen Vicent Burgess, former town sergeant of Lewis burg, died at her home early Wednesday morning August 29, 1945. She was born in Richlands near Lewisbury 84 years last July and had been a life-long resident of the community. Her husband preceded her in death about 15 years ago. Surviving are two children, Mrs T. S. Burgess of Lewisburg and George L Burgess of Barboursville. She is also survived by two half brothers and two half sisters. They are Tracy Crookshanks of aMaxwelton, Mrs. Anna Hanson of Ronceverte, Mrs Joseph Hern and Charles Crookshanks of White Sulphur Springs. Thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren also survive Services were held at 2:30 Saturday afternoon at Calvary Methodieeist Church with Rev F.D.Rexrode officiating and burieal in Calvary Cemetary. 35 v. Mamie May Crookshanks was born in Richlands, Greenbrier, W Va September 17, 1871. Mamie died November 3, 1943 in Of Unis, Greenbrier, W Va, at 72 years of age. Her body was interred in Calvary Methodis, Richlands, Greenbrier, West Virginia.

36 vi. Lilburn Peyton Crookshanks was born in Greenbrier, W Va December 15, 1873. Lilburn died November 25, 1938 in Of Unis, Greenbrier, W Va, at 64 years of age. His body was interred in Calvary Methodis, Richlands, Greenbrier, West Virginia.
