1. Jno1 Johnson was born in Wiccocomicoe Par, Northumberland, Virginia before June 1655. Jno died after 1710 in Northumberland, Virginia.
He married Anne Goche before 1707. Adventurers of Purse and Person page 217 Johnson-Travis 1. John1 Johnson was living in Virginia by 1616 and when the census was taken, 1623, he was established at Jamestown with his wife Ann and two children,, who names are given in the muster, 1624/1625 as John, a year old and Ann, then fours years old. In the extracts of all titles and estates sent home by Sir Francis Wyatt, 1625, John Johnson is credited with 200 acres at Archer' Hope on James town Island. Half of this tract is of record: John Johnson, Yoeman and ancient planter of James City 100 acres 12 Jan 1624, his first person divident, whereof 15 acrees is situated on the east of the island towards Wm Spencer's dec'd W Wd upon a marsh near adj Nwd upon the backe river etc and 85 acres Swd upon a small branch of Archer's Hope Cr. parting the same from the main devdt of Ensigne William Spencer. Nwd upon another brance of Sd Creedk, Ewd upon Archers Hope Creek and Wwd upon a swamp on the back of said land Fee Rent l shilling for every 50 acres Note: the former patent granted by Sir George Yeardley is to be accounted void. On 16 Aug 1624, John Johnson was ordered to repair the late dwelling house of Ensigne Wm Spencer on James City Island and make good the fences about the ground according to an agreement entered by the two men. He was party to a suit over a sow, 1629. Issue: 2 Ann 3 John repateented 1652 land granted to his father John Johnson 12 Jan 1624 and accrueth due unto him and being son and heir of said John JOhnson. 2 Ann Johnson (John) married Edward Travis I, who on 25 Jan 1637 patented 900 acres, James City County upon the head of Upper Chippokes Creek adjancet Jeremiah Dickenson 200 acres, ther of due in right of John Johnson, hiw wife and two children the daughter and heir of said John Johnson, he st said Travis marrying." Among the headrights named in this patent were Walter Johnson and Walter Travis. The afrementioned patent was renewed 25 Feb 1638 in the names of Edward Travis and Johnson sonn of John Johnson deceased. On 10 Mar 1652 Edward Travis I acquired by patent and by purchase 196 acres on James City Island near Black Poynt adjacent to Goose Hill. !Virginia Colonial Abstracts Northumbria Collectanea, 1645-1720, A-L Jno Johnson patented 85 acres 4 Jun 1655. 17.137 John Johnson owned 50 acres adjacent Tho Garrard 1 Dec 1656. Sold it to Wm Thomas in April 1660. 17.91. Goche, Sam of Greater Wiccocomicoe Parish gives to Jeffery Johnson son of Jno Johnson of Greater Wiccocomicoe Parish one half of plantation he now owns and recorded by deed of gift from his Uncle Jeffrey Goche. With the provision that Jno Johnson and Anne father and mother of the said have use of the plantation. Dated 14 Dec 1663. Recorded 10 Dec 1666. Witnessed by George Spe and Jeffrey Goche. 16.2 John. Pd 48 lb tobacco from Co levy. Does not state what for 5 Nov 1668. John Johnson wit need Lane to Whitford 18 Jan 1669/70 16.154 Jeffery Johnson Brother of Peter Byram's wife. Was asked to stay at their home, but abused them to their sorrow. 16 Jul 1685. Jeffrey Johnson was sued 22 Oct 1690 by John Gooch Jeoffrey Johnson of Wiccocomicoe Parish planter. Deed to Jno Howson Gentleman 19 Nov 1707. This land bought 20 Dec 1666 from Jeoffry Gouche. There was a suit concerning it brought by John Gooche, son and heir of Saml Gooche in the General Court at James City 22 Oct 1690. This was settled amicably 10 Jan 1696/7. Jeoffrey Johnson. His land adjacent to that land Greater Wiccocomico Parish patented in 1650 by Jeoffrey Gooch and inherited by his nephew Jno Gooch 7 Apr 1706. Land was on South Side of Greater Wiccocomico Parish adjacent to Vulcan Creek. 19 Nov 1707 Jeoffrey Johnson married Elizabeth by this time. (Probably married several years before this. Her name is mentioned for the first time. Jno Johnson presented for not going to Church in Wicco par 19 May 1714 6.35. (Who is this Jno?) Northumberland Order Book 2 dated 20 May 1653 page 13 John Johnson exempted from Levies John Johnson to be exempt from paying county and country levies in respect of his lameness and inability to worke which was contracted in the service of the country in the last massacre.
